English

English has a high priority on our timetable with more time given to it than any other subject and standards in all areas of English are high. We work hard to ensure all children develop excellent literacy skills as they are the key to children succeeding in so many other areas of the curriculum. All children are taught English every day and experience a wealth of speaking and listening activities and opportunities for Speaking, reading and writing to develop their communication skills. While students continue to benefit from concrete experience with concepts in grammar and mechanics, they explore the study of English language as an on-going creative process of research, ideas and imagination.

Math

Standards in mathematics are very good. There is a daily mathematics lesson for all children. Lessons include whole class, group and individual work. Mental math and problem solving are an important part of every lesson. Learning through a clear progression of mental and written methods, children develop understanding and the skills to carry out calculations independently. Traditionally, the study of geometry is undertaken in later years as an abstract series rules, theorems and propositions. Although sophisticated in content, geometry at the primary level continues to be well grounded in concrete experiences with manipulative materials. The use of mathematics arose thousands of years ago as a tool to meet a fundamental need for order and as a practical aid in daily life situations. Only later were rules applied. Students use materials to work toward the abstraction of math concepts, naturally formulating rules and formulas themselves.

Science

Standards in science are very high and children develop excellent investigative skills from an early age. Children are encouraged to ask questions and to extend their understanding of scientific concepts. Students learn to think scientifically by investigating, experimenting, gathering data, organizing results and drawing conclusion based on their actions and observations. Physical Education and Indoor and Outdoor Games

We also use the outside playing field and paved areas for a variety of games. School grounds are utilized for cricket, basketball, Hockey and football matches. Table tennis, snooker, chess carom board and badminton facilities are provided within the premises. Inter school and Inter House matches are held to promote healthy competition.
